Day 29 of Merry Motivation

Redefining your limits. Everyone wants to live free without limits, limitless freedom. I now live in NH and hear all the time "Live Free or Die." This sounds so good doesn't it? No boundries and no control has become the common desire. We seek this relentlessly, but my question today is this. Are limits truly the factor that bind us from being where we want to be and acheiving the things we dream of and feeling the way that we crave? This is a great cliche, but unfortunately when we mistakenly subscribe to this way of thinking the principle can breed chaos and disorder. Hear me out, as this comes from a lifelong free spirit who has painfully learned the lessons of self dicipline the hard way. Consider these scenarios and imagine the outcomes that would be the rule rather than the exception.

- A kid in the candy shop - everything is free for the taking and eating

- A highway without speed limits, road system without safety protocal

- A surgeon as an entry level position

- An uncontained fire or a stove without controls

- Food products without ingredient labels

Still hate limits? I'll leave you with that as you contemplate your new year. Consider this. Perhaps we are not seeking a life without limits, but a life with carefully defined limits put in place to give us the best life results possible. More to come on this, but for now let this stew.
